We are a combined legal and software business based in Perth with a small and happy team who provide Cashroom and Accountancy services and support to other legal firms throughout Scotland. The keys attribute of the successful applicant will be someone who is intuitive with figures. A high level of IT skills as well as experience with QuickBooks and/or working as a Legal Cashier would be helpful, but is not essential, full training will be given.

This will be a permanent full time position. Starting Salary £20,000 – £30,000 per annum (dependent on skills and experience).

Job description

The focus of this position is to provide Cashroom and Accountancy services and support to legal firms throughout Scotland. This is done remotely from our office in Perth and is referred to as our Bureau Accounts service. As we're a small firm, you will need to be flexible as you may occassionally need to assist the team in other tasks. In particular this may involve providing a degree of IT support to clients - if you are comfortable communicating with customers who have a range of IT ability that would be a plus.

You'll be reporting to our director, Graham Gibson.

Key responsibilities

  • Posting debits and credits generated by clients.
  • Reconciling firm and client bank accounts.
  • Preparing Trial Balances.
  • Producing reports required by the Law Society of Scotland (“LSS”).
  • Producing daily, weekly and quarterly Financial Management reports as required by each Bureau Client.
  • Providing payroll services to Bureau Clients.
  • Preparing VAT Returns and other financial aspects of running a business.
  • Liaising with Bureau Clients' Accountants in preparation of year end accounts.
  • Assisting Bureau Clients in complying with the LSS Accounts Rules.
  • Assisting Bureau Clients in complying with Money Laundering Regulations.
  • Preparing Bureau Clients' Accounts Certificates.
  • Providing support for LSS Inspections.
  • Supporting install and setup of QuickBooks for new Bureau Clients.
  • Providing QuickBooks technical and user support.
  • Providing Accounts Support to non-Bureau Clients.
  • Managing communications with Bureau Clients in a timely manner.

Work load requires focus, conscientiousness and working to deadlines. Client trust and satisfaction is paramount, therefore effective communication between relevant members of the team is required.
